Welcome
Conveniently located at the southern end of
downtown, Americana Music Academy offers group and private music
lessons in a relaxed setting with some of the region's most notable
pickers, players, singers and songwriters. In addition, Americana provides
Music Therapy for the disabled community in Lawrence and the
greater Kansas City area. Americana is also building Kansas’s first
American Roots Music Archive.
Americana is a
focal point for musicians throughout the region, and we intend to create
a regional folk life center to provide local residents greater access
to the
musical folk culture of this area. Through classes, performances or
community jams, we invite you to connect with Americana and join us in
celebrating the music America makes.
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE for Americana Classes!
We are committed that people who want to
create music have the opportunity to do so and that, as far as
possible, money not be a barrier to that. We have some scholarship
money available, and also work-study opportunities. So please contact
Thom Alexander, our director, to discuss these opportunities, if money
worries are keeping you or your family members from taking lessons. To contribute to our scholarship fund, please email americana66044@yahoo.com.
