THE PRAIRIE ACRE
Energetic traditional bluegrass from Lawrence, Kansas
2003, Lawrence, KS
Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Ricky Skaggs, Freight Hoppers, Jimmy Martin, Ralph Stanley, the Carter Family
The band brings together elements of traditional bluegrass and old-time music to create a unique sound and fuel their highly contagious positive energy. With a repertoire that includes a healthy mix of original and traditional tunes, The Prairie Acre’s signature sound balances fast fiddle tunes with bright vocal harmonies.
Tricia Spencer Has been playing fiddle since she was 4 years old. She was taught fiddle in the bluegrass tradition by her grandfather, and has won numerous fiddle contests.
Noah Musser has been playing banjo for nearly 8 years, and is an instructor at the Americana Music Academy, in Lawrence.
Virginia Musser Has been playing bass since 2003—when Tricia, Greg, and Noah decided to peer pressure her into joining the band.
Greg Yother purchased his first guitar from a pawn shop in 1986. We believe the fretboard was actually made of recycled tires. His strong rhythym and unique style of playing are a key ingredient in The Prairie Arcre’s high-energy sound.
